Class is held at Ace Makerspace

Please Click READ MORE to get the complete information on this class.

Learn how to make the stunning Diamonds in Two quilt.  Some of you may recognize it from Season 3 of the Mystery Quilt series. We’ve had so many requests for this pattern and also for an opportuity to learn from Nancy with in person class that we decided to bring the two together for this great class.

This quilt may look intricate but it is actually done in twos … just two blocks and two colors.

Nancy will be teaching you:

  • Strip piecing
  • Chain stitching
  • How to construct the two blocks that make up this quilt
  • Accurately trimming a block
  • Assembling blocks to make a quilt top

This class is aimed at learning the skills. We prioritize enjoying sewing and gaining confidence over finishing the project. You will have completed several blocks by the end of class and you will leave class with all the skills to complete this quilt top. As a special bonus for this in person class, Nancy will share several ways these blocks can be combined to create a variety of different overall designs.

Skill level: ✂️✂️

This class is aimed at beginners and beyond who are comfortable sewing a ¼” seam.

Supplies: Fabrics for this quilt can be solids, solid reading or prints as long as there is adequate contrast between the two fabric choices. A complete supply list will be emailed when you register.

About the instructor:

Nancy Williams has been sewing for longer than she cares to say – clothing for the kids and grands; a few wedding dresses; some tailoring.  She began piecing quilts about 30 years ago and mostly quilting them on her domestic machine.  After renting time on long arm quilting machines and liking it (a lot), she decided to purchase her own. Since then, she has been honing her art and skills on personal quilts, donation quilts and quilts of those she is honored to be trusted with.

Sewing Machines: If you would like to use one of the sewing machines at Ace Makerspace please select the Use Ace Machine ticket. If you are comfortable and would like to use your own sewing machine please select the Use My Machine ticket. DO NOT purchase a Use My Machine ticket if you don’t have a machine, it isn’t working properly or you aren’t comfortable operating it. We don’t have extra machines you can use. If we have sold out of Use My Machine tickets, and you want to use your own machine, you may purchase a Use Ace Machine ticket.

Member Access to Space During Class

Ace Makerspace workshops where classes are taking place are closed for member use for the duration of that class.  Exceptions will be made either directly in the event description or on a case by case basis at the discretion of the instructor. If you have a question about whether or not you can access the space during class time please message the instructor or post on slack.

Quiet Dibs

Loud tools like the planer and tools that require use of the cyclone dust collection system can disrupt classes in other workspaces. When an instructor requests “quiet dibs” for their class it means that some tool use will be limited during that time. Check slack when planning your time to see if an instructor has requested “quiet dibs.”

The Planning Calendar

The  Ace Planning Calendar is an internal tool used for scheduling events and space use with partners and teams. It is not an accurate reflection of confirmed and finalized events. Please use the calendar above as your source of truth.
